Chapter 3: Lows and Highs

Nicki was sat in the cafeteria with Trina Safaree and Rihanna. She was worried about Kerian, she hadn't been to school since Tuesday. "Come on lets talk outside, it's to crowded in here" Rihanna said getting up. They all followed putting there plates in a pile and scraping any leftovers in the bin, then picking up there bags and sat on the grass away from everyone else. "Why you girls got so much stuff in your bags"

"So why you worried about Kerian" Trina asked Nicki turning towards her
"Because she's been off school for a while now" Tears started forming in Nicki's eyes again
"She's probably just ill, she'll be fine in a day or to"
"I don't think so cos *sniff* I was texting Kerian on Tuesday and she suddenly stopped then this guy called me from Kerian's Phone telling *sniff* me to...to stay away from Kerian and to *sniff* not to talk to her" Tears were streaming down Nicki's face. Trina hugged her.

"Kerian....did something happen Tuesday night" Kerian continued looking down at the floor, Nicki then knew something happened. "What happened"
"Umm....well I'm not allowed to tell anyone other wise he'll do it worse"

"Well he....***Kerian was texting Nicki on her phone while sat crossed legged on her bed.
N-many times it's horrible, my mom tells him to shut the door or go out the house but he never listens

Dan, Kerian's dad, walked into her room and snatched her phone away.
"Who are you talking to" Kerian's dad demanded

She was in the same place as Kerian had left her. "You can come in now" Kerian got up with her brothers and went in. Lillian was laid on the bed with the new born baby laid in her arms. Kerian walked to the bed to see.

"Aren't you going to take Rylan with you"
"Oh no I'm fine, imma stay here"
"Ok"
"We'll be back in a bit" Jacob took Kerians hand and they walked out the door. walked down. He let it go after they had walked about half way down they hall but kept walking to the cafeteria. They sat down at a 2 seated table, with there Tea and hot chocolate. "So you wanna tell me whats up, cos before dad came you were all happy and that but now, you kinda just sit in the corner looking as if your bout to cry" He took a sip of his tea burning his lips a bit. She winced a bit, from the sudden change of temperature to her hands."You shouldn't do that, you could ruin the skin on your hands" Kerian nodded her head."Did something happen" A tear fell on to the table. Jacob then knew something happened. She obviously didn't want to talk. He put his thumb under her chin to lift her head . She looked in to his eyes and tears rolled down her face. Jacob wiped her tears away feeling sorry for her even though he had no idea what there dad did to her. He stood up and held his out out to wards Kerian. Kerian put her hand on his and stood up. He was such a kind loving brother she loved him so much and wished all guys were like this. He pulled her in to a hug. They stayed there for a few minutes until Jacob pulled away but kept hold of her arms. "Tell someone, even if its not me. Its best to let it out instead of keeping it to yourself" He hugged her again then gave her a long kiss on the forehead. Only to be interrupted.

"Umm Jacob what are you doing" Jacob turned around. It was his girlfriend, Harriet.
"Oh hey babe, this is my sister Kerian, she was just a bit upset"
"Oh ok, hey Kerian how come I didn't meet you when I came over" Harriet and Kerian hugged.
"I was away on holiday with my auntie"
"Oh well at least I've met you" Kerian just smiled.
"So, Are you here for someone in your family"

"Whats there name"
"Lillian, Rylan, Kerian and Dan"
"Well I'm sure you're missing someone"
"Oh yer, Lillian had a baby" Jacob laughed
"Come on" He put her arm around her. "You wanna come back, or you staying here"
"I'm gunna stay here for a bit"
"Alright, I'll see you later then" They hugged and went. Kerian sat back down and sipped her hot chocolate that had cooled down now.

Kerian rolled over and grabbed her phone to look at the time, which her dad had given back to her.
"Shit" It was 12:14, Kerian got up and looked in the mirror. She looked a mess, so she brushed her hair washed her face and brushed her teeth and did her make up. Then pulled on her skinny blue jeans, blue toms and over-sized blue and white stripped woolly jumper that slipped off her shoulder. She grabbed her bag and ran out the door to school. Kerian would normally get a ride from her mom or brother, but since they weren't there and her dad would probably beat her, she walked. Kerian got to school in 38 minutes. She walked through the front doors and then out the back to the school field, she saw Safaree, Nicki, Rihanna and Trina. Nicki looked upset as Kerian got closer.***...And that's what happened" Kerian wiped her tears. Nicki was crying as well. She couldn't believe what Kerian was going through.
"I'm so sorry" Nicki pulled Kerian in to a hug. Even though they were crying it felt amazing to be in each others arms. "It's ok" Safaree, Rihanna and Trina could see Kerians back and Nicki's head resting on her shoulder. Just then the bell went.
"Oi! The bells gone, ya'll gunna be late if ya don't move" Safaree shouted to Kerian and Nicki while Trina, Rihanna and himself got up to go to lesson.
"Don't say it like that" Rihanna said hitting him in the stomach with the back of her hand.
"Eyy be careful were you flinging dem things!" Safaree rubbed his stomach.
"Safaree don't be a baby and they are not things they are cal-"
"Hey, come on lets go to lesson then" Nicki said as she and Kerian came back to the group.
"Alright" Trina said as she picked up hers and Nicki's bags and passed Nicki's hers and everyone walked to lesson.
